Edge of the World Tours · San Francisco
Edge of the World Tours picks you up at your San Francisco hotel and drives a small group of 13 at most to three boutique Sonoma wineries, with tastings and lunch included. Choose it when you'd rather go honestly to Sonoma than to a "Napa" tour that spends the day there anyway.

This is the cross-valley option. Many of the San Francisco "Napa" day trips spend most of their time in Sonoma already; this one says so on the label. Edge of the World Tours collects you from one of 96 downtown hotels in an air-conditioned van, with a driver-guide and 13 guests at most. After a Golden Gate photo stop you head north to three boutique Sonoma wineries, with tastings at each.
The middle of the day is free time on Sonoma Plaza, California's largest plaza of its kind, where the Bear Flag Revolt happened in 1846. Mission San Francisco Solano, the last of the state's 21 missions, is an optional visit. Lunch is included, which is rare on these trips. On the way home there's a photo stop in Sausalito, and you can take the ferry back across the bay instead of the van if you pay for it.
Sonoma also costs less once you're there. Sonoma County says most of its 425-plus wineries are open without appointments, and its average standard tasting was $47 in 2025 against Napa's $79. At $189 with tastings and lunch in, it's the most complete small-group day from the city. It isn't wheelchair accessible.

Stay in Napa for the big-name estates and restaurants in Yountville and St. Helena; stay in Sonoma for lower prices and a walkable town square. This tour runs from San Francisco, so you don't need to stay in either.
